After he was nearly beaten to death
by four white police officers
who were acquitted
of any wrong doing
the city of Los Angeles
was set ablaze.
Widespread looting,
assault,
and murder
occurred over the next four days.
After a plea for peace
the riots subsided
and Rodney King
was awarded
$3.8 Million dollars
in a civil trial.
He used this money
to start a record label
called Straight Alta-Pazz Records.
It did not succeed.
