HONEST MISTAKE

HONEST MISTAKE

Between one o’clock and seven o’clock this morning
someone removed the stereo from my car and accidentally
took it home with them.

In its place they left a bunch of exposed wires
and sorted through bags on the floorboards.
As near as I can tell the person
responsible seems to have mistaken my car,
and my car stereo for his own.

Weird.

Inside the CD player portion of the stereo
was a burned copy of a No Age CD
which he will no doubt enjoy listening to today
until he realizes that it is not his.

Oh, the look on his face! That will be priceless.

Hopefully by this evening, he will have recognized his mistake
and will put the stereo back for me while I am sleeping so I can use it
to listen to talk radio hosts say ridiculous things about women and gays
while I am stuck in traffic in the morning.

If not I will have to purchase a new car stereo,
which in todays market will probably run upwards of thirteen dollars
(No Age CD not included).

Strangely enough this is not the first time someone has accidentally taken my car stereo.
Once when I was sixteen and driving an entirely different car and living in an entirely different state
someone mistook my car stereo for their own,
as well as some items in my cars passenger seat, including a
snowboarding jacket and a VHS copy of Jerry Springer’s Too Hot For TV
that my mom had given me for Christmas.
I am still awaiting the return of these items
so that I can go snowboarding.
(Fingers crossed).
