they sat in a diner
completely silent
eating the same breakfast
prepared the way they knew they liked it best
looking just below each others eyes
not happy
not sad
not really anything at all.
“Guess what?”
He said, as he set down the newspaper, too tired for the days crossword.
“What?”
She replied, looking confused, a bit irritated.
