ART?
ART?
I had an art show tonight.
A real success.
I made little drawings of things
that made people laugh.
They sold well,
folks listened to music
and talked in low voices
with plenty of smiles.
In the middle of it
someone said to me
“You should charge way too much money for your art
because art is about tricking people
and taking their money. That’s how you become popular.”
Interesting
how long we’ve all been making clothing
that we can’t afford
and wouldn’t wear.
“No,” I said “I think you are mistaken.
You are talking about robbery.
Art is something different entirely.”
But robbery is nice too.
